Welcome to my cup of tea! My name is Lori Maxwell, and I am so happy you’ve stopped by. I was raised in West Texas in a small town called Robert Lee, Texas where much of my family still lives. I spent several years in Abilene, San Angelo, and Wichita Falls, Texas then found my way to the Dallas Metroplex, where we have lived for the past 25 years. I now live in Aubrey, Texas. I am a Texas girl through and through. I love Texas with its rich history and generally hot weather. I am the wife of a very distinguished and handsome man named Dan. He helps with creating unique frames and canvas boards as well as helping me procure product, delivery, and various other tasks. He has been so supportive of my work and is a voice of encouragement and reason. He keeps me balanced and on track! We recently celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary.
We have a beautiful daughter named Shelly who we absolutely adore, a brilliant son in law named Josh who keeps us laughing and yelling for all the Texas sports teams, and two of the most extra special grandsons you could ever wish for. They are my biggest fans and constantly cheer me on. Outside of the art business, I am a financial administrator for a local church, and spend my spare time enjoying cooking, home decor, gardening, reading, and painting and I like to learn new things! (Inside joke but very true) I am often accused of being all things extra and generally believe if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well, and a little more! Just add a little extra! I am a firm believer in, and overuser of exclamation points and I will not stop!!!! I pride myself on seeing and seeking out the sunny side of life. I am grateful for every moment God has entrusted in my care.
Currently, we have a studio in our home, and everything is produced from there. My dream is to someday have a larger studio where we can paint, hold classes and events, serve tea or coffee, cookies, pastries, and candy. I would love to have a place to showcase artwork, have prints for purchase, along with greeting cards and books. I dream daily of having a spot where you can find a small reading area to sip your tea and relax a moment in quiet solitude amid the loud and constantly moving world around us. Woven in-between these treats would of course be paintings and tools and all the creative plans and ideas spinning around in my head continually. However, until then, this will be where all those spinning thoughts find a landing place! I hope you enjoy perusing through the website as much as I enjoyed creating it for you.
On a personal note, have you ever heard the saying, “That’s just not my cup of tea.”, meaning it isn’t something I really am into? Well, this endeavor is just exactly my cup of tea! A home for all the things I love to create, and a space for my creativity to find its place until one day it becomes your cup of tea! The name started back in 1991with my first ever AOL email address and has continued on through today serving me well having applied it to this venture as well.
Hence the name “Lori’s cup of tea!” My genre is abstract art because I am so intrigued by imagination. Here at Lori’s Cup of Tea, the motto is “Where what you see is up to you!” Dan and I hope our work, shared thoughts and dreams encourage you to use your own dreams, talents, and imagination to find your way in this world.
